Depression in the Startup World

Ladies and gentlemen, this is how you report a story:

What We Talk About When We Talk About Startups, Depression, and Michael Arrington’s Blinders

Looking beyond the obvious importance of acknowledging depression and its effects in the media-happy, hyper-sensitive startup world, Foster Kamer continues to do a magnificent job of being a true “journalist.”

Previously, he stirred up controversy by writing about the issue in the first place. Then, when he saw the responses (ranging from full agreement to utter disbelief), he took the time to fill out the story. Explaining his methodology, acknowledging where the faults may lie, furthering his research, and driving his initial, much more clear point home. And not only that, but doing so in a humanistic way: it’s a problem that needs to be talked about. Both articles are great reads for the content and for watching modern journalism in action for a greater good.
