Apple’s Newsstand Success

Just read another enlightening Daring Fireball post, this one about Apps being the new channels.

They’re absolutely right. While I can’t comment on the specific sales at my publishing house, I will say this: our launch on Apple’s Newsstand was a great thing (and something I’m proud to have spear-headed and saw through to launch). I was joking around with someone else heavily involved in the launch just last night. We were talking about how well it was doing and we came to the conclusion, quite sarcastically but earnestly:

It’s almost as if creating a good product that looks beautiful and breaks down the barrier to purchase (Apple’s one-click) results in increased sales.

So, for the barrier breakdown and architecture, thanks, Apple. To the beautiful product, thanks Design team. In regards to what this model will mean for all the other mass forms of media, as suggested in Daring Fireball’s post, I can’t wait.

I want to go to Toledo and learn the art of kickboxing! I will eat nothing but Chex Mix while this is happening.

But what are your thoughts on Magner’s? Quit dodging and answer the question!

This was basically an argument for the necessity of government, and an exhibition of the general foolishness of the average person. What kind of person willingly sleeps in a stranger’s tent, anyway? I mean, I know that strangers’ tents are often warm looking, possibly full of food, not unlike a forest castle made of candy, which looks like warm and cozy if one were, say, lost in the woods, but, alas, that’s neither here nor there.

Why would anyone require an “admission” from an NYC Chinese restaurant owner before believing that Chinese and Koreans eat dogs. I used to live in Korea and saw them do things to dogs that turned my stomach. They are generally butchered alive.

I will have the pasta alfredo. With extra parmesan sprinkles!

Like the honey badger in the pistachio ads?

Actually that whole series seems to be about picking pop culture shards from the rubbish.

I really enjoy Fancy Feast! It’s the meow-best!
